Quay Words is pleased to welcome playwright and screenwriter Naomi Westerman as our Summer 2021 writer-in-residence for the month of July.
During her residency, Naomi will be exploring the nature of the Quayside in a series of outdoor workshops (details coming soon) followed by a Quay Voices event on 28th July. Speaking of her Quay Words residency, Naomi said:
“I am very excited to be Quay Words next writer-in-residence at Exeter Custom House, and to start bringing my lifelong love of nature into my writing.”
Naomi Westerman is a playwright and screenwriter and former anthropologist. Her work has been staged at Wilton Music Hall, Vault Festival, High Tide, the Bush Theatre, Graeae, and the Birmingham Rep. She is currently writing for the Bush Theatre and Hampstead Theatre, and has two TV series in development. She is also founder of the feminist theatre collective Little but Fierce, and an advocate for disability representation and access in theatre and TV.
15th and 27th July 2 – 4 pm: ‘Nature writing for performance’ workshop – Over the course of two sessions (Thursday 15th and Tuesday 27th July), Quay Words writer-in-residence and playwright Naomi Westerman teaches a friendly and inclusive workshop on nature writing for performance. 28th July 6.30 – 7.30 pm: Quay Voices: Nature writing for performance with Naomi Westerman – Naomi will introduce new voices she has been working with throughout the residency. Book a place in the audience here.
